|
|
Version .9937 Mac OS 10.5.3
The editor gets into a glitch mode where trying to drag a chip makes it disappear. Clicking and dragging a chip that is in a socket makes it disappear as soon as the drag movement starts. Just clicking on the chip does not make it disappear.
After one chip disappears this way, then if you do the same thing to another chip to make it disappear and then an Undo, both chips immediately come back.
You must Quit then restart ChipWits to get rid of this problem.
As of yet I can't determine any circumstances that cause this problem. It just seems to start happening randomly. |

Doug,
Unfortunately, this occurs quite often. Unless I'm hitting it due to something peculiar to my particular situation, this is a show-stopper. |

Dang.
I can't replicate it any more. Tomorrow I will spend all day working on this bug. |

| I'll try to spend some time trying to see what triggers it. It may not occur until after I've done an earlier cut and paste, but I need to do further experimenting. |

I can't figure out a reproducible scenario. The bug is happening for me about every 10 minutes of using the editor. This is an average of about once for every panel I add to a wit.
For people making simple wits this bug may be rare enough not to be a problem. You may want to see what kind of feedback you get from others before determining how severe to rate it. |

It's a showstopper. I am going to put other improvements on hold until I come up with some hack for it.
I hope to have a build for tomorrow in which I try various hacks to kill it.
Thanks for your diligence. |

vs .9937 Mac OS 10.5.2
After 3 days of not seeing the drag problem, it started for me. I've tried restarting several times. Sometimes I can drag a chip or two before the problem starts again. At this point the editor is unusable. |

Dang.
This week is all about tracking down and killing that problem.
Thanks for the report. |

Additional observations to add to the mystery:
I tried old Wits of various sizes combined with restarts without any success on my iMac. Next I installed 9937 on my MBP (also Mac OS10.5.2). The editor works again on the same Wit that was originally giving me problems. I make several drags without a problem.
Next I went back to my iMac and its working again too! All I did was let the iMac sit with ChipWits II idling for about half an hour while I was working with my MBP. |

Haha.
I am afraid I am going to have to sacrifice a chicken or perform some similar ritual to kill this bug.
Thanks for the report.
Off to drag chips to try to replicate the bug. Wish me luck! |
